Additional Fees and Terms

Waterfowl Labs requires a $150 deposit at the time a training spot is reserved for either the basic pet obedience program or one of the hunting retriever programs.  This deposit will be applied toward the clients first months payment, which is due when the dog arrives, and is non-refundable unless a new training start date is established between you and Waterfowl Labs or you find another client that can fill your spot.  All retriever’s will be trained with dead and live birds (including pigeons, chukars, ducks, and pheasants) and is paid for by the client in addition to the monthly training fee.  The cost of live birds will depend on the price the wholesaler is charging at the time of purchase.  For all basic pet obedience clients and retrievers that are here at Waterfowl Labs for a hunting retriever program, are required to pay us on a monthly basis.  When the client comes to pick up their dog at the end of its training program, the entire bill with any additional fees and/or expenses are due prior to us releasing your dog to you.




 

All dogs that are to stay with us are required to be up to date on their vaccinations prior to the dogs arrival.


This includes:

  1. Bullet Bordetella (kennel cough)

  2. Bullet Heartworm preventer (Tri-Heart Plus, Heartgard Plus, etc.)

  3. Bullet Rabies

  4. Bullet Distemper/Hepatitis/Parvovirus/Parainfluenza/Leptospirosis (DHPPL4 vaccination)

  5. Bullet Flea & Tick control (K9 Advantix, Frontline Plus, etc.)

  6. Bullet Lyme Vaccine (this is not required, but highly recommended, especially for

       retrievers staying with us for a hunting retriever program)

  1. Bullet Stool sample taken to the clients vet to be checked for parasites

  2. Bullet And be in good physical health


The client must provide proof of their current vaccination receipt along with rabies certificate on or before the day your dog is to stay with us.  The client is responsible for supplying us with your heartworm preventer and flea & tick control (Tri-Heart Plus, Heartgard Plus, K9 Advantix, Frontline Plus, etc.).  All dogs will be fed Eukanuba Premium Performance or Puppy Formula.  However, if the client would prefer, you can feel free to bring your own food of choice or pay a $30 transportation fee (round trip) plus the cost of the food of your choice for us to go out and purchase that food for your dog.


Veterinarian service: Coon Rapids Pet Hospital, P.A. (Norb Epping, D.V.M. or Susan Brenteson, D.V.M.) 763-755-2570 or for emergency, Emergency Veterinary Service, Coon Rapids Clinic 763-754-9434.  The dog owner is responsible for all medical bills, including a $30 vet transportation fee per round trip visit’s.



* Dogs that we cannot accept due to insurance restrictions are as follows: Akita’s, Chow Chow’s, Doberman’s, Pit Bull’s, and Rottweiler’s.



During your dogs stay with us, they will receive the best care and attention possible.  They will be treated as one of our own.  Like people, all dogs learn at different paces.  One dog may complete, for example, basic obedience in three or four weeks, but another dog might take six or seven.


All retrievers that are with us for hunting retriever training will be trained with the finest equipment the retriever training industry has to offer.  We use Gunners Up wingers, Bumper Boy launchers, and Dogtra electronics.

 

Started Hunting Retriever Program

This is a three to four month program, depending on your expectations and your individual dogs’ progress, at $495 per month.  Upon completion, the Started Hunting Retriever will be obedience trained including whistle commands for here and sit, e-collar conditioned, force fetched (bird delivery to hand), conditioned to the sound of gunfire, remain steady in the blind (retrieving bird when told to, not when guns start going off), working through decoys and be doing single land and water marks.  This is for retrievers at least 6 months old.

Seasoned Hunting Retriever Program

This is a six to eight month program, depending on your expectations and your individual dogs’ progress, at $495 per month.  This is for the hunting retriever who has already completed the Started Hunting Retriever Program.  The Seasoned Hunting Retriever Program focuses on more solid obedience work (on and off leash), steady to wing and shot, honoring (watching another dog work while your dog sits steadily), multiple land and water marks (doubles and triples), and handling for blind retrieves.

Basic Pet Obedience with Boarding

This is a four to six week stay with us at $420 per month.

This would include boarding plus basic obedience commands on leash (here, sit, heel, down, kennel, and okay which is used for releasing the dog).  Dogs must be at least 6 months old and is open to any breed ( * see restrictions below).

Boarding

$13 per night.

This service is offered to any breed of dog ( * see restrictions below).  This would include feeding once or twice a day (dependent upon the owner) and being let out several times a day for exercise and play time.  Dogs must be at least 6 months old.
